Bought this game upon release. The Download/Install was quite smooth easy.
I didn't find the game fun at all. As a matter of fact seeing as i hadn't played SC for 8-9 years I couldn't tell you what was different between SC1 and SC2. At a distance of years these two games felt like carbon copies. Nothing new.
Seriously save the $60 and continue to play SC1/Brood.
I played the Original and Broodwars probably only just over 100 hours played. I always preferred AgeOfEmpires for my RTS... where I have spent many thousands of hours playing. I liked SC, but wasn't close to my favorite in the genre.
Setting up keybinds was about impossible for me.
When units are clumped as a group and go to send group across map, lol all the units take their own route (Poor design). When I send a group of troops I fully expect them to stay as a Unit. Seriously. These people are poor at designing RTS games.
Maps felt all alike.
I played first 2 missions in the campaign. Then 4-5 skirmishes. Then promptly went back to playing 2002 released Age of Mythology. Far better RTS IMO.
Bottom line SC2 was not fun for me. I cant imagine myself ever playing it again. Say I reformat my computer. I cant Imagine ever downloading my copy SC2 from Blizzard again. The only situation I can imagine playing again, Is if I were at a buddies house and he wanted to play via Lan. And there will probably be support for this eventually.
Just goes to show. Cant always release a winner. I bet Diablo 3 sales are cut in half due to this stinker. It aint just the Lan Play guys down-rating this game. A lot of people did not like this steamer. Doesn't matter who you are Blizzard Fan Boi or Free Lan Play Fanatic,,, cannot deny the fact that this games gets very mixed reviews Even when you take the 5's and 1's out of the mix. The first non Golden Boy Blizzard game ever... This does not bode well for the King.
While some people may enjoy it. Im voting the fairest way i know, since Ive played only about 3 hours and never care to play again, I think a 1 star rating is in order.
PS. Yes you can have my stuff.

it was a good game. I liked the cinematic scenes, they were movie quality. Game play was good except for the initial lag but i never expect that to be fixed in any good game, loading lots of elements takes time. The learning curve was good and if you've ever played an rts before most of the elements are familiar, though i wish they had a select all(or all onscreen) hot-key for the military units, sometimes it was just easiest to gather a massive army and throw it at the enemy once you had the upper-hand. I was slightly annoyed that the terran medic was taken out even though i never played the first game. Having to build so many things to get a med ship was normally not worth it especially since even the fully upgrades marines were not much use against anything really, they could take out lone units and be meat shields that was it for them. fairly balanced groups overall but some tactics were so common it was sad, everyone seems to focus on air units, especially protoss. zergs were useless after the first few minutes, if they didnt rush they were pretty much doomed. good balanced game overall and a good intro to rts for beginners.
